The Monday Lists

Killing It:

Note: The Monday lists are about race organization. These lists should celebrate good organization and shame lame organization. Leave stories of training, broken poles, your mom and anything else out of it. Who’s putting on good races? Who needs to step it up? Send it along all week to johnnyklister@gmail.com.

-  Athlete rooms at the World Cup venue in czech. Huge, warm, carpeted rooms. (viastraightballin)

- Hats off to Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage’s volunteer race organizers and officials who pulled off 12 separate events in the last 12 days – 2 biathlon races, 4 NCAA college races, 2 middle school races, 1 high school race, 1 community sprint race, Alaska Ski for Women & Ski 4 Kids Day. About 3200 race starts. Only eight more races to host before month end.

- Bethel Outing Club and Wade Kavanaugh killed it at the Flying Moose.  Wade chopped up the thin, icy snow and made great skiing on a tough but really fun course.  Groomed on Friday and Saturday morning, competed in the race, finished near the front, then jumped into the car to go coach at the high school race at Farmington.

Shit List:

- The North End Classic in Cable, WI moved their start onto the Birkie trail to provide 10 tracks and a wider start area for the racers.  Smart. However, they steered the trail straight left after 100 meters into a very narrow trail with 2 tracks.  The ensuing result…chaos.  Not smart.
